Mercury

Mercury is the smallest planet in our solar system and the one closest to the Sun. Because of this proximity, it completes an orbit in just 88 Earth days, making it the fastest planet. Mercury has almost no atmosphere, which means it cannot trap heat. As a result, temperatures vary dramatically — during the day they can reach about 430°C (800°F), while at night they can drop to −180°C (−290°F).
